3 OF EACH OF THE CHARDONNAY & AUXERROIS
Mind has been blown after tasting Pascal Henriot of Coteaux de Champlitte. I can't recall a producer offering such profound purity, finesse and most importantly: value for money, you simply cannot find value like this is greater Burgundy. Pascal does absolutely everything on these wines right up to (poorly at times it must be said!!) hand labelling each and every bottle. He deals in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Gamay. He is the only independent wine maker left in Coteaux de Champlitte. Pascal has a wicked sense of humour. He doesn't use any chemicals or additives because he says that he can't afford them. One suspects this is to distance himself from the Natural Wine cult.
The Chardonnay is modern, lean and stylish. Auxerrois is a rare grape, and it's juicy, oily character suggests we are missing out by not seeing it around more. The Chardonnay offers weight and texture, the Auxerrois is nervy and intense. STSWine
