We love these Southern Rhone wines - and it is not just patriotism. Les Deux Cols began with Simon Tyrell of Tyrell's Wines & Charles Derain of Nomad Wines, they made one wine; Alize. Gerard Maguire, founder of wine geek utopia 64 Wine joined a couple of years later and the trio have added more cuvees and vineyards to the offering. O Font is one of the most popular wines on the Irish scene, and Trois Terroirs is a triumph that hones 3 different terroirs.
Atelier des Source is the second label of the collective and they also draw on the expertise of Tom Schmittel of the legendary Domaine des Lises here, the new Allers Retour wine from Atelier des Source we present is 100% Syrah, biodynamically made. Oludeo represented a foray into Spain, starting in Yecla with the variety Monastrell. Presumably the only wine maker in the area using the Burgundian whole bunch method of wine making, its a seriously impressive effort that keeps getting better (for that first BBQ of the season!). His latest is Garnacha from the up and coming DO of Sierra de Gredos and is proves that Simon is a master prognosticator of the variety. STSWine
