Australia & New Zealand are full of Neo-Classic Styles
We cannot stress enough how poorly represented Australia and New Zealand are represented here in the minds of consumers. We have put forward 6 wines that showcase their capability (with enlightening and enlivening notes about the wines, the regions and the famous 'gumboot clone). From New Zealand, which is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot: Nicholas Idiart Sauvignon Blanc 2017 and Ata Rangi 'Crimson' Pinot Noir 2017- a wine that is regularly described as the best value wine on the planet. Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling 2016 is from Australia's incredible Clare Valley, the new classic ground zero for this spritzy white (dry as a bone and very spritzy). Balnaves Cabernet Merlot 2011 is a Bordeaux-style blend from Coonawarra - one of the most instantly recognisable terroirs in the world due to its terra rossa soil, with 9 years of age, it has developed beautifully. Finishing with a pair of Shiraz, 16 Stops 2017 2017 is a McLaren Vale beauty from South Australia, enjoying a heady and moorish weight. Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2017 is from the Canberra region. Steeped in Irish history, this is the pinnacle of Shiraz. One of our very favourite wines year after year. STSWine
