PACK
3 of each of the THIVIN REVERDON BROUILLY & CHATEAU THIVIN COTE DE BROUILLY LES SEPT VIGNES - BOTH 2019
Along with Daniel Bouland, my favourite Bojo producer. Foillard, Lapalau and Lapierre may grab the headlines, but Chateau Thivin are the spirit of Beaujolais. This 6-Pack has 2 of each of the 3 wines that best show this multi-faceted house. All high scorers in the wine press, reviews are against the individual products, below are our thoughts.
I call this the Gamay Noir Thivin's little black number. Producers are making a simpler, more smashable Bojo now because....well because the world has finally caught on to the fact that Vin de Soif Gamay is one of the most pleasurable things in the world. Open this and pour for mates, if there is any left in half an hour - you need new mates.

Reverdon Brouilly pulls you out of Kansas very quickly. You see the house style here, utterly compelling Beaujolais. Classic Gamay from old vines and balanced acidity and spicy intensity. Reverbs around the palate - what a delight. Finishes so fucking long.
The Cote de Brouilly Les Sept Vignes was the first wine that truly made me fall in love with Beaujolais (circa 2013). We are now on 100 year old Gamay vines. There are several cuvees above this in the range, but this communicates how utterly special the house is. Pure, elegant and stylish but with a certain unruly energy to it, it is killer.
If you haven't tried Thivin, then you are at your year zero for Beaujolais. STSWine
