6 Sangiovese Superstars
Chianti is probably the last true vestige of value for fine wine in the world. Sangiovese is the variety in question. Italy's most planted grape, it's vibrant acidity and dusty drying tannins make it an ideal food match and it sends any pasta dish to the next level. San Vito Organic Chianti is a juicy entry point from outside the Classico area. Santa Margherita Chianti Classico 2016 is a blended Classico from across the Classico region, and a stunning vintage. We have 3 different Chianti Classicos to showcase 3 styles: Isole Olena is from the master of Chianti Classico, Paolo di Marchi in in Castellina, Rodano Chianti Classico 2016 is also from Castellina, and Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico 2017 is from Gaoile and is our fave producer, made by the ancestor of Baron Ricasoli, who's Ricasoli Rocca Guicciarda Chianti Classico Riserva 2017 requires some ageing time in oak to be called 'Riserva'. Liver and fava beans optional.
Chianti Classico is one of the last games in town for value, terroir driven fine wine. STSWine
