A note of pure cherry is underlined by vivid acidity and dusty tannins. Tobacco, iron, leather, earth and tar flavors add depth as this cruises to a lingering finish. Drink now through 2028. 92 POINTS, WINE SPECTATOR
In this vertical, the 2012 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino comes across as a bit ripe, with a slightly roasted quality to the fruit that is especially evident today. Even so, there is more than enough depth to support another decade or more of fine drinking. Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi defines 2012 as a warm vintage that required considerable selection in the vineyard to avoid picking overripe fruit. Even so, the personality of the vintage is impossible to miss. 92 POINTS, VINOUS
