We are Alvaro fans. Corullon is a blend of several parcels of Mencia from Bierzo. This wine is regularly celebrated as representing some of the best value in it's class in the wine world. Vivid, perfect, haunting Mencia
DJP Villa de Corullon 2017
So expressive on the nose with violets, hibiscus, cloves and cinnamon. A great combination of richness and freshness on the medium-bodied palate, the gentle tannins supporting the long finish beautifully. 94 POINTS JAMES SUCKLING
Ville de Corullon 2015
Vivid ruby. Suave, highly perfumed scents of dark berry preserves, baking spices, cola and smoky minerals are complemented by a lively floral overtone. Appealingly sweet and broad on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cola and violet pastille flavors and an exotic touch of five-spice powder. The spice and floral notes repeat emphatically on an impressively very long, sweet finish, that's framed by well-integrated tannins. 93 POINTS, Vinous
Villa de Corullon 2014
Cropped from a cooler vintage and, therefore, with a cooler profile, the village red (vino de villa in the new classification from the 2017 vintage), the 2014 Corullon, felt like a more complete version of 2013, clearly a more Atlantic (cooler) year, with notes of violets, lilies and pomegranate, really expressive, open and aromatic, more focused, precise, clean and with a palate that follows that same line, plus the verticality and minerality added by the slate soils. Hands down, one of the best (if not the best) vintages of Corullon. Bravo! 95 POINTS, Robert Parker
