White Wine /// Arinto & Fernao Pires // Alcobaça / Portugal
***Challenging style warning! Highly unusual, Juraesque salty, flor-like texture.
Portugese game-changers, ESPERA (meaning wait in Portugese) is the young project of young wine maker Rodrigo Martins in the region of Alcobaca. He uses only indigenous varieties, everything done by hand without any chemicals. He finds great acidity and purity, with complexity but LOW alcohol.

The varieties here are Fernão Pires and Arinto. The wine is dry, with beautiful acidity (though no sharpness). Really interesting notes of tea and white pepper, backed by juicy citrus and exotic fruits - this is a funky and challenging wine, best with bold flavours and lunch with sun! STSWine
