Having sold him since 2011 both in Australia and here, Jean-Marc PIllot is and has been our favourite producer of fine White Burgundy. We have only in the last few vintages discovered his magnificent Reds too. The praise of his latest 2020 release for both red and white has been absolutely breathless, with the normally unflappable Allan Meadows (aka BURGHOUND) completely losing his shit and pronouncing every single wine OUTSTANDING. As to the wines, in our view, 2020 is genuinely a great vintage for the whites as they are dense, highly energetic, super-refreshing and absolutely reflective of their individual terroirs. It's also good to very good in red but in white, 2020 is something very special. Pillot consistently outperforms, almost irrespective of vintage, but I have to agree that a number of his 2020s are indeed quite special.
