2 x Macon Chardonnay, 2 x Bourgogne Blanc, 2 x Juliénas
The story now is all to familiar, Ma and Pop grower team that grew and sold grapes. As time went on they noticed that there was fight and frenzy amongst their customers to get an allocation of their fruit so they decided to make their own wine. Jean Mantanet was trained by Bernard Raveneau - the greatest Chablis producer ever. They have spearheaded a revolution in the little area of Vézelay where producing and not merely growing is becoming the norm.
What makes these wines so special is that while the area is cooler than Chablis, it gets a lot of sun, resulting in great acidic intensity, matched with White Burgundian, fat Chardonnic (not a word) goodness. The Julienas is typical Cru Beaujolais, juicy and compulsive but with depth and serious intensity. These are extraordinary wines. STSWine
