32 quid for a glass, are you fu@$%ng kidding me?
Was my first reaction to this a few years ago. As if Riedel wasn't expensive enough? Once you drink Zalto though, Riedel will looking like any tatty old wine glass in your cupboard, or anyones cupboard for that matter. These are extraordinary glasses. Super thin and light, they seem to float. Light is the new heavy it seems. Hand crafted, mouth blown but also dishwasher proof, the Art Series range are just beautiful. STSWine
BORDEAUX ART SERIES: For wines full of character and high in tannins.
Accentuates potency, concentration, extract and tannins.
Especially for: Bordeaux, Rioja, Brunello, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Blaufrnkisch and Zweigelt
Zalto have produced a not at all OTT or pretentious video HERE.
“The glass is one of those beautiful, fine, fine, fine Zalto glasses that everyone is going nuts about at the moment: it helps to emphasise the delicate, refresh- ing qualities of the wine.” Victoria Moore, Telegraph Weekend
“If you’re looking for glasses and your budget tiptoes into hand-blown territory, though, these are, truly, the best I’ve ever used.” Andrew Jefford, Decanter
“What I love is that Zalto glasses are the thinnest and most delicate glasses I have come across, yet seem springy and almost elastic in the hand. They are not cheap, but they are cheaper than most of Riedel’s top models and would give any serious wine lover a real thrill over the closeness of contact they offer”. Jancis Robinson
