La Combe Danay sits on the slopes west of Volnay. Its poor soil and altitude give a perfumed, lifted wine with Monthélie’s earthy fruit and structure beneath. Rodolphe calls this wine ‘terrian’ while his Savigny is the opposite. The 2017 should age well, it is packed with fruit and has the aidity and tannins to balance over time. STSWine
