Languedoc is the workhorse of French production, making huge volume from a galaxy of varieties and styles. Roussillon is the up and comer of the region, and in general the standard has gone up as they try to distance themselves from a reputation for high volume. There are many exciting winemakers dabbling in new wine making methods and styles.
